Operating Conditions
It is imperative that when collecting data, the test RPM is very near the RPM that was used for the previous tests. In turbine-driven equipment, the speed should be verified by the use of a portable stroboscopic or other tachometer, and it must be running at a constant, not varying, speed!
Gauge pressures should reflect normal operating conditions. Pump testing with discharge valves closed is discouraged, but if a pump must be tested in a recirculating condition, the recirculation valve may be partially closed to attain a normal discharge pressure.
