Overview

 


An early vibration transducer is the human finger! An earlier, and much more sensitive one is the lateral line organ of the fishes.

 

The vibration transducer is a device that produces an electric signal that is a replica, or analog, of the vibratory motion it is subjected to. A good transducer should not add any spurious components to the signal, and should produce signals uniformly over the frequency range of interest.

Different types of transducers respond to different parameters of the vibration source, as shown in the following table:
