Sources of Vibration

 

Twice the line frequency (120 Hz in the US) is always a measurable vibration component in an electric motor. The attraction between the stator and rotor varies at this rate, and the iron itself changes dimension a little in the presence of the varying magnetic field due to magnetostriction.
